Migration Guide

Two migration flows are supported: host migration (SwiftChat → SwiftChat on new infrastructure) and platform migration (from another CRM / inbox tool).

Host migration

  1. Take a full backup on the source host
  2. Copy backup + .env + storage volume to the destination host
  3. Restore via Backup Management → Restore
  4. Point DNS to the new host after health checks pass
  5. Decommission the old host after 24 hours of clean logs

Platform migration (from another tool)

The Import Wizard (Data → Import) accepts CSV, JSON, or direct connectors for:

  • Contacts / Customers
  • Conversations (with historical messages)
  • Deals / Pipelines
  • Users & Roles
  • Tags / Labels
  • Custom fields

Mapping is field-by-field with preview and dry-run. Every import is reversible for 7 days.

WhatsApp number porting

  • Complete SwiftChat install and verify a test number first
  • In Meta Business Suite: transfer number ownership to the new BSP
  • In SwiftChat: reconnect the number with the new phone-number ID

Data retention

Historical messages older than 24 hours are import-only — they cannot be re-sent on WhatsApp due to Meta's messaging policy.
